The
Vineyards
Our high altitude vineyards define
our site - specific wines
Uva
Mira’s vineyards average between ten and twenty-five
years in age and are situated between 420m to 620m
above sea level. Our soils are a mixture of decomposed
granite and shale.
Each vineyard has a different elevation, soil, meso
- and - micro climate and exposure to the elements.
These factors make the fruit produced from each site
- specific vineyard extraordinary and unique. It is
this high altitude mountain vineyard diversity that
gives our elegant and distinctive wines the ability
to hold captivated, in every drop, their true sense
of place.
Our meticulous viticulture incorporates the practices
of correct canopy management, vertical shoot positioning
and green harvesting. This attention to detail practices
enhances the high quality of our crop along with regulate
deficit irrigation to ensure concentrated flavours.
Our criterion for production is highly coloured, rich,
concentrated fruit from naturally balanced low - yielding
vineyards.
We have introduced “micro managing systems”
in our vineyards enabling us to identify the slightest
variances in our grapes from a specific site within
a vineyard.
We consider our Vineyard Sites, Viticulture and Our
team as our biggest asset.
We believe in a long term investment strategy in the
above key elements in strengthening our long term
aim to become South Africa’s leading boutique
winery.
